Marta joins the NanoOmics lab as a Post Doctoral Research Associate
Marta obtained her BSc in Biology at the University of Alcalá de Henares, Spain. She continued her specialization with an MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the University Complutense of Madrid. During her MSc, she developed a project on autophagy in the laboratory of Dr. Patricia Boya in Centre for Biological Research (CIB). Then, she started her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Abelardo López Rivas in Centre for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CABIMER). Her doctoral thesis focused on the role of glutamine metabolism in TRAIL sensitivity of breast tumour cells. Afterwards, she joined Prof. Michael Lisanti’s research group as Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Salford, where she studied key aspects of breast cancer stem cells and their involvement in mechanisms of metastasis and tumour growth.
In April 2025, Marta became part of the NanoOmics Lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Centre for Nanotechnology in Medicine.
